Post-bariatric surgery details

- Recovery: 3 to 4 weeks. (This time varies depending on the patient's case)
- Results: Results are immediate, but the final result is seen months later.
- Associated Surgeries: Liposuction, Lipectomy, Breast augmentation, Facelift, Mastopexy.
When should I have the surgery?
What is the recovery like?
The treated area may be swollen, bruised, numb, or painful. Although these symptoms are normal and will improve over time, residual swelling resolves completely in about 10 weeks, and the final results will be fully visible.
How long do I need to rest?
Normally, two weeks after surgery, the patient can return to normal activities (the doctor will evaluate this beforehand).
When can I see the final results?
In general, these types of body contouring procedures require at least three months for the overall aesthetic results to become evident. Scars usually take 12 months to go through the remodeling process and, because body contouring procedures require significant incisions, they are often noticeable during this period.
How long do body contouring results last?
The main factor affecting the longevity of post-bariatric body contouring results is weight fluctuation. This is the main reason these procedures are delayed until patients have had a stable weight for a minimum of 12 months. If patients are able to maintain their weight, long-lasting results can be achieved.
REQUIREMENTS
Although this surgery has raised the standards in cosmetic body surgery, plastic surgeons recommend it only for certain patients, who must meet the following requirements:
- Have a normal weight or be mildly overweight
- Follow precise pre- and post-operative instructions to minimize risks and optimize results
- Do not smoke for at least the two weeks before and after surgery
- Not have weight-related conditions, such as diabetes
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle, meaning a balanced diet and regular physical activity, in order to maintain results over time

When can I have surgery after bariatric surgery?
When your weight has stabilized and your nutritional status allows it; operating earlier compromises the result. The consultation with the certified surgeon determines the right time.
What surgeries are included?
Depending on your case: tummy tuck, 360° lipectomy, and arm and thigh lifts. The plan is built by priority and scope during the consultation.
Does health insurance cover post-bariatric surgery?
Coverage depends on your insurer and the medical reason for the procedure. NuBody guides you with the documentation for your surgical plan.
How is it planned in stages?
Surgeries are ordered by functional and aesthetic priority, separated by recovery periods. This way, each stage is performed with lower risk and a better result.
